High res. versions are offered for purchase and are on average available in two sizes - small and optimised for the web at approx 1024 pixels on the horizontal/long side at 72dpi, and for printing approx. 3600 pixels at 300dpi, with sharpening for matt paper. Where there are exceptions to this the details will be in the Cart item's boxes.
Shipping costs do not apply [noted as "F" for free in the Cart] as we usually only do digital downloads, based on the assumption that the buyer can take the high resolution file supplied to their own printer and exercise greater control over the finished product.
However if you'd like a print prepared in New Zealand and posted to you please email your requirements to don@likeminds.co.nz for a price inc. shipping.
Occasionally a reply to such an email may not be instant, as acquiring new images in New Zealand's mountainous environment usually equates to little or no Internet access for a few days.
GST inclusive prices are in NZ dollars. Tax Invoices/receipts for NZ business customers wishing to claim back the GST component are available on request via email.

Two kea playing

Please scroll for purchasing information below the photo

Two kea playing by Donald Lousley.I was with a group of friends, all NZ Dept of Conservation staff or volunteers and when we were leaving Aspiring Hut in the West Matukituki Valley of Mount Aspiring National Park one chilly morning in Nov. 2013 we were “checked out” while opening a gate, by quite a group of kea.

The kea is an alpine parrot found in forested and alpine regions of the South Island of New Zealand and is approx. 48 cm long. Coloured shades of olive and green, and when flying it’s possible to see a magnificent orange colour under its wings.

It has a superb intelligence and with it’s large, narrow, curved, grey-brown upper beak can wreck havoc with tents, car window wipers and a favourite is the soft top of sports cars. In younger birds as per this photo the beak colour is more yellow

Kea Portrait 2 by Donald Lousley. Ever inquisitive it’s often not hard to get close to this intelligent alpine parrot unique to New Zealand, and so often as one will engage us in the great outdoors another will sneak up behind to do mischief to whatever we’ve taken our eyes off of!

Kea Portrait

Kea Portrait by Donald Lousley. The kea is an endemic parrot found in the alpine environments New Zealand’s Southern Alps and high country. It is the world’s only alpine parrot and is very playful and inquisitive – a testimony to it’s sharp intelligence. As a species it is at risk due largely to it’s habit of nesting on the ground.

If you wish to be involved in the effort to help this wonderful bird then please visit http://www.keaconservation.co.nz/support-kea/
