This old fountain possibly built in the 30s that sadly no longer works, is adorned with marble figurines of lions with wings.
The Gardens were officially opened in 1876, and are one of the oldest in the country.
Provision for their 13 hectares of public reserve between Chelmer and Isis Streets was made when Oamaru was surveyed in 1858.

About LikeMinds.co.nz photos...
Thank you for your interest in the above low res copy of one of my favourite images. High res. versions are offered for purchase and are on average available in two sizes - small and optimised for the web at approx 1024 pixels on the horizontal/long side at 72dpi, and for printing approx. 3600 pixels at 300dpi, with sharpening for matt paper. Where there are exceptions to this the details will be in the Cart item's boxes.
Shipping costs do not apply [noted as "F" for free in the Cart] as we usually only do digital downloads, based on the assumption that the buyer can take the high resolution file supplied to their own printer and exercise greater control over the finished product.
However if you'd like a print prepared in New Zealand and posted to you please email your requirements to email@example.com for a price inc. shipping.
Occasionally a reply to such an email may not be instant, as acquiring new images in New Zealand's mountainous environment usually equates to little or no Internet access for a few days.
GST inclusive prices are in NZ dollars. Tax Invoices/receipts for NZ business customers wishing to claim back the GST component are available on request via email.

Thank you. Cheers Donald Lousley
